4 Important Updates from Hampton City Schools!

Update number one: Students and parents need to review the Student's Rights and Responsibilities Handbook to ensure the understanding of student rights and the expectations that apply in both the in-person and virtual learning environments. The handbook is located on the HCS website under the student tab at the top of the homepage or can be accessed by clicking here. Students will receive a documentation page from their teacher in which the student and parent need to complete and submit as an assignment in Google classroom.

Update number two: SBO form 55 – Student Directory Information needs to be completed if you did not complete the form last year or your child is new to Hampton City Schools. This form can be accessed and completed through Parent Portal at https://ps.hampton.k12.va.us/public/ on a computer or from the web browser on a smartphone or tablet instead of the mobile app, then select the Directory Information icon. Once the form is completed it is good for the duration of the child's academic career with Hampton City Schools.

Update number three: If you are calling our Digital Help Desk and are experiencing long wait times or interrupted phone service, please email us at HCS-ITHelp@hampton.k12.va.us. Include a description of your problem and your return phone number.

Update number four: This is a reminder that HCS is offering THREE meal pickup options during virtual learning and meals must be pre-ordered the week before. The deadline to pre-order student meals for next week has been extended to midnight this Friday, September 11. Beginning next week, meals will need to be pre-ordered each week by midnight on Thursday nights. In addition, Andrews PreK-8 School and Phenix PreK-8 School have been added as locations to option 3 – the 5-Day Meal Kit Pickup. These locations are in addition to our current two locations at Hampton High and Syms Middle. Please note that orders for Syms Middle School are at capacity for next week. If you would like to choose option 3, you may select Andrews, Phenix, or Hampton as your pickup location. Operational hours for all four 5-Day Meal Pickup locations have been adjusted. They will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please visit the HCS website at www.hampton.k12.va.us for more information on our Alternative Meal Sites.

Hampton City Schools is going “greener” by implementing a new procedure for disseminating flyers. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly, to embrace innovative technology, and to reach more families, we are moving to a digital flyer delivery method using the company, Peachjar.

100 Dresses

Students were invited by the Hampton Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority to attend the play "100 Dresses" performed by Hampton University students at HU. The Deltas paid for the student's tickets and purchased dresses for each of the 35 female 6th graders. The following day three of the students wore the dresses that they were given.
